‘I’m lost for words’: Lisa Marie Presley’s half-brother mourns the death of his ‘big sister’

As the world comes to terms with the sudden death of Lisa Marie Presley, her half brother has joined mourners in delivering a poignant message via social media in tribute to his “big sister”.

The daughter of music icon Elvis, passed away at the age of 54 on Thursday, January 12 after reportedly suffering a cardiac arrest.

According to TMZ, Lisa Marie was rushed to hospital after emergency services attended the home of the 54 year old where they performed CPR before taking her to hospital, paramedics were reportedly able to regain a pulse en route to the hospital.

Shortly after being administered to hospital, Lisa Marie’s mother, Priscilla Presley, arrived to be by her daughter’s side.

Priscilla later announced the news of her daughter’s “devastating” death in a statement, while thanking the public for their “love and prayers”.

“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” she said.

“She was the most passionate strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss. Thank you for the love and prayers. At this time there will be no further comment.”

Navarone Garibaldi, the son of Priscilla and her ex Marco Garibaldi, also shared a touching message following the loss of his half-sister with a throwback photo of the pair as children.

“Big sister… i hope you are now at peace and happy with your Dad and your son by your side,” he captioned the photo.

Garibaldi lamented the difficult relationship the pair had shared while reflecting on the hardships that Lisa Marie had experienced throughout her life.

“I know the past couple years weren’t easy for you, and I wish things had been different between us,” he wrote.

“Regardless, you are my sister and I’m sending love and prayers for your journey home. I still can’t believe this, I’m lost for words. Love you sis. Beijos.”

After sharing his moving message, Garibaldi was met with an outpouring of love and support from across the globe.

“Navarone this is just unimaginable. Sending all my love and prayers to you, your Mom and your nieces. I envision her in heaven beautiful and radiant, wrapped in the loving arms of her Dad and son forever at peace. I pray you and your family can also find peace and comfort during this very difficult time. I’m so very sorry,” one person wrote.

“So incredibly sorry for your loss. My deepest condolences.”

“There are no comforting words to offer you and the entire family. With the best intentions, it’s just impossible. Pls know that the world is mourning alongside you all and hope that you are feeling the love and prayers that surround you. Just so surreal,” commented another.

“Very touching and authentic words, navarone! sending prayers and love! All families have their struggles, whether famous or not. may God bless you and your beautiful wife elisa!”

“I’m so sorry for your loss. My prayers and hugs go out to you, your beautiful mom and your nieces. She was your sister and I can’t imagine what you and your family are going thru. Love you my friend.”

Lisa Marie was born February 1, 1968 to Elvis and Priscilla Presley at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis in midtown Memphis, Tennessee.

At the age four Lisa Marie’s parents divorced and although she lived with her mother in Los Angeles she frequently visited her father at his Graceland residence until his death in 1977 from a heart attack.

Following his death, Lisa Marie became the joint heir to her father’s estate alongside her grandfather, Vernon Presley, and her great-grandmother, Minnie Mae Hood Presley.

Following the death of her grandfather and great-grandmother, Lisa Marie became the sole heir to her father’s estate and inherited Graceland.

Like her father, Lisa Marie also enjoyed a successful music career following the release of several successful albums while also finding time to commit to a number of charitable endeavours.

Lisa Marie was not only chairperson for The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation but also joined Oprah Winfrey to assist with the devastation left by Hurricane Katrina where she helped deliver food and essentials to families who had lost everything.

In addition to her music career and charitable work, Lisa Marie was a mother of four. She shares her eldest daughter Riley with her first husband Danny Keough. The couple also had a son together in 1992, Benjamin Keough, who sadly passed away in 2020.

Following marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicholas Cage, Lisa Marie married American guitarist Michael Lockwood in 2006, whom she shared twin daughters, Harper and Finley. The couple divorced in 2016.

Lisa Marie is survived by her mother, her three daughters and half-brother, Garibaldi.
