American actress Glenn Close has opened up about her wishes for the arranged Paramount+ miniseries reboot of her 1987 hit psychological thriller film, Fatal Attraction, where she played the chilling character of Alex Forrest.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight at the New York Premiere of her new Apple TV+ series, Tehran, Close admitted she’d like the upcoming reboot of the film to take a closer look at Forrest’s character.

“I hope they tell her backstory, her side of the story,” Close said.

“I mean, I would be flattered if it was the one that we came up with (originally), but obviously I’ll be very curious,” she continued, hinting at previously discussed ideas for the reboot.

Close admitted she felt particularly attached to her role as Forrest, revealing “It was a very important step” in her acting career. The 101 Dalmatians actress described Forest’s character as “a human being in need of great help” and “a fragile person”.

“I love her. I will love her always,” Close admitted.

According to The Verge, American actors Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan will play the roles of Dan Gallagher and Alex Forrest in the reboot.

In a previous press statement, Nicole Clemens, Paramount+ President and head of the original scripted series for the reboot, revealed the new production would delve into the intricacy of the human mind and relationships.

“[Joshua Jackson] and Lizzy [Caplan] are perfectly matched to tell a nuanced and modern narrative about the complexities of the human psyche,” Clemons said. “We’re thrilled to partner with them to bring this provocative and captivating story to a new generation,” Clemens said.

2022 marks 35 years since the original Fatal Attraction film shook the world, racking up an impressive $320.1 million against a $14 million budget and earning its title as the globally highest-grossing film of the year. The film saw outstanding performances from Close and famed actor Michael Douglas, who played the character of Dan Gallagher, a married corporate lawyer who engages in a passionate one-night stand with an attractive book editor named Alex Forrest [Close].

A seemingly harmless one night stand soon becomes Gallagher’s worst nightmare as Forrest becomes increasingly obsessive and desperate for Gallagher’s attention, which ultimately ends in terrifying chaos. Fans of the film described it as one of absolute “horror” and “suspense”, with many admitting the film still haunts them to this day.

The hit film was nominated for six awards at the 60th Academy Awards including: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film Editing.
