Liza Minnelli, 76, and Lady Gaga, 36, have shared quite the touching on stage moment at this year’s Oscars award ceremony.

The special moment, which took place on Monday night, March 28, saw Gaga and Minnelli exchange a number of tender remarks as they took the stage as this year’s Best Picture Award presenters.

As Minnelli took the stage in a wheelchair, the crowd erupted in a standing ovation of claps and cheers as they celebrated the iconic star.

“You see that? The public, they love you,” Gaga told Minelli, to which the crowd responded in applause once more.

Minnelli appeared perplexed by her cue cards, telling Gaga, “Oh yes, but now, where are my? I don’t understand” as she struggled to work out which one was next.

But before Minnelli could get too frazzled, Gaga was quick to jump in and assure her, telling the Cabaret actress, “I got it”.

Gaga addressed the crowd, telling them “I love working with legends, and I’m honoured to present the final award of the evening with a true show business legend.”

The pair held hands as Gaga announced, “she’s celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cabaret”, which received yet another round of applause from the crowd.

Minnelli then began to introduce the Best Picture nominees, seemingly losing her track of thought before a kind-hearted Gaga caught her once again, finishing Minnelli’s sentence for her.

Gaga then knelt down and whispered “I got you” to Minnelli, to which she responded with a touching “I know”.

The heart-warming exchange came as a welcomed distraction from the Will Smith and Chris Rock ‘slapping’ incident which many argue has unfortunately “overshadowed” media coverage of this year’s Academy Awards ceremony.

The romantic musical Cabaret, for which Minnelli is famous for, was first released in 1972. The iconic film won an overwhelming number of esteemed awards including multiple Academy Awards, BAFTAs and Golden Globes and saw a deserving Minnelli receive the award for Best Actress.
