Hey baby! Michael Douglas shares adorable photo as he meets new grandson

It’s been almost a month since Michael Douglas’ son Cameron and his partner Viviane Thibes welcomed their second child into the world, and now, Michael has finally met his grandson Ryder T. Douglas for the first time.

On Tuesday, the doting grandpa took to Instagram to share a beautiful photo of the exciting moment. In the picture, the 76-year-old actor can be seen cradling his very young grandson with a baby bottle in one hand. Grinning from ear to ear, Michael is clearly smitten with the latest addition to the Douglas clan. This is Michael’s second grandchild, as Cameron and Viviane are also parents to three-year-old Lua.

“First time I’ve seen my month-old grandson, Ryder!” he captioned the post.

Fans of Michael’s were quick to congratulate the doting grandpa on the new arrival, with one writing, “He is beautiful! Great picture!” Another added, “I’m happy for you Michael. He’s beautiful, perfect.” While a third commented, “Beautiful. Grandchildren are so precious.”

It comes just three weeks after Michael’s son Cameron announced the exciting news to the world alongside a picture of his partner cradling their newborn son. “Touch down planet Earth,” he captioned the post at the time. “Welcome my son… Ryder T. Douglas.”

“Oh my goodness!!” one fan commented at the time. “What a beautiful surprise! Congratulations to the family!!” Another added, “Congratulations, I’m so so happy for you guys! What a great early Christmas gift.”

Michael became a first-time grandfather in December 2017 after his son’s partner gave birth to Lua Izzy Douglas. Lua’s middle name Izzy has a special connection to her great-granddad (Michael’s dad), the late Kirk Douglas, who passed away in February last year at the age of 103. Kirk was born Issur Danielovitch and was known as Izzy for most of his life. Cameron and Viviane chose the special name to pay tribute to the family patriarch and ensure his legacy lives on through the next generation of Douglases.

Michael and his actress wife Catherine Zeta Jones also share two children: Carys, 17, and Dylan, 20.
