Grant Denyer has opened up about life in lockdown with his wife Chezzi, revealing the couple were “right royal messes” during the coronavirus outbreak as they tried to juggle homeschooling their two daughters and looking after their farm.

The television host features in this week’s edition of Women’s Weekly magazine to discuss life on the farm during the pandemic and on Tuesday took to social media to share a beautiful family photo from the shoot. Denyer said he shared stories with the magazine about the struggles and successes amid the pandemic and how like many other Aussie families, it certainly wasn’t a glamorous time.

“The Denyer herd is sharing stories with @womensweeklymag this week about life on the farm in lockdown,” he wrote on a post on Instagram. “Obviously I lied … a lot … pretending we kept really healthy, read 2,000 books and meditated every day. When obviously, I had chocolate on my face more days than not, tried homeschooling but only made our kids dumber AND wore a constant uniform of dirty trackies with five chins. Some right royal messes we were.”

He continued: “But, somehow this wonderful magazine brings out your best and makes you look spectacular. Even tho [sic] the makeup team had to dust the rust off our faces and remind us how to use vowels again. Miracle workers they are. Thanks for the yarn @womensweeklymag. It was nice seeing other humans for a change … to remind us why we should start showering again.”

In the photo, the Denyer clan can be seen posing together on their farm, with a herd of cows behind them. Grant and his wife Chezzi sit front and centre, sporting huge smiles on their faces, while the couple’s youngest daughter Scout is sitting on her father’s lap. Meanwhile, their eldest daughter Sailor stands to the side, wearing her cowboy boots and a pink patterned skirt.

Fans were delighted to see the family looking happy and well, with many saying how lovely it would have been for them to spend some extended time together on the farm.

“Your daughters are growing up fast,” @jewelrussell2745 commented on the post. “A beautiful photo of you all, and the cows look good also.”

“Well I bet all the animals were happy everyone was home,” @helenhorton25 commented. While @shari.campbell.1441 added: “That’s lovely! Living the dream, hard as it is at times.” And @maddi_wilson wrote: “What an absolutely beautiful photo, hope you are all doing well.”

While time in lockdown may not have been an easy feat, there’s no denying the love between Grant and Chezzi. Earlier this year the couple celebrated their 10-year anniversary in a very romantic way, by renewing their vows in a beautiful ceremony alongside their two young daughters.

The couple, who first tied the knot in 2010, invited a handful of their closest friends and family to the small gathering as they expressed their love for one another for the second time.

Chezzi looked sensational in a white, long-sleeved wedding dress, while Grant sported a formal grey suit and white shirt. Meanwhile, their two adorable daughters, Scout and Sailor, took prime position beside their parents wearing matching white lace dresses.

“I think you are amazing. A wonderful husband, father, my best friend. You really are my soulmate,” Chezzi told Grant, as she struggled to hold back tears. “I love living life with you. I adore watching you with our two beautiful girls. I feel incomparable loss when we can’t be together and when you’ve been in pain, I felt that too.”
