Popular Australian TV host, Grant Denyer, has opened up about his young daughter’s health battles in a heart-wrenching new post to social media.

Denyer took to Instagram on March 16 to share a photograph of his wife, Cheryl, as she cuddled up to their youngest daughter, Sunday, who had just undergone surgery to fix her severe hip dysplasia, a condition where the hip bone becomes partially or completely dislocated.

Both Cheryl and Sunday wore looks of exhaustion as Sunday rested her head on her mother’s chest, following the procedure.

Denyer directed the post to his daughter, expressing his dismay at seeing her in such a condition.

“Oh my poor little bubba! I’m so sorry to see you in this state,” wrote Denyer.

“The poor thing has to wear a half body cast for the next 12 weeks which will be so uncomfortable and immobilising for her, but will be worth it in the end.

“Hang in there my sweet, you’ve already shown us how brave you are.

“Love Dad.”

Fans were quick to express their support for little Sunday, sending an abundance of love and prayers to the family.

“Oh poor little angel. She’s got the greatest care with mum and dad. Love you guys so much I hope she’s doing okay, and you guys too!” one user commented.

“Naww poor little poppet! Big love Denyer family. It always hurts to see your little baby hurt. Big hugs!” another wrote.

A number of fans spoke of their own children’s experiences with hip dysplasia, with one fan even recommending a way to navigate a full body cast.

“My daughter was in one of those when she broke her femur, the best thing I can recommend is a baby hiking backpack with a stand so she can straddle it and sit up. We used a Macpac possum. Good luck,” they said.

Denyer shares three young daughters with his wife Cheryl – Sailor, 10, Scout, 6, and Sunday, 1.

“We’re crawling!! OMG so proud,” Denyer wrote on a previous Instagram post of Sunday.

“As a 1 yo she’s a bit of a late bloomer, but at least we now know it’s because of her recently diagnosed hip dysplasia. In fact it’s so severe her hip really isn’t even in its joint. She’s had a dislocated hip since birth. Which makes this even more special.”

Denyer, a popular Australian TV host and radio presenter, known for his work on Family Feud, Dancing with the Stars and I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, won the Gold Logie Award in 2018 for Most Popular Personality on Australian TV.
