Monty Python’s John Cleese reveals extreme anti-ageing measures to look younger

Battling the signs of ageing can feel like an uphill battle but comedy legend John Cleese, who is best known for his starring role in the British sitcom Fawlty Towers and legendary hit Monty Python, has revealed he’s now on his own personal mission to turn back time.

Speaking on Steve Wright’s BBC Radio 2 show last Friday, the star, who is set to turn 80 in October, opened up about his anti-ageing secrets – revealing he uses stem cell therapy in a bid to stay young.

“I do stem cell therapy,” John revealed. “I’m serious! I think stem cell therapy is the most extraordinary thing and of course, I’m sorry to say, it’s not cheap.”

He further explained: “Stem cells are basically cells at such an early stage of development that they haven’t decided what sort of cells they’re going to become.

“So if they are introduced into your body, the body doesn’t recognise them as foreign objects so it doesn’t reject them, and they go around your body saying, ‘Do you need our services today?’

“The knee says ‘I need you over here’, and they go over and turn into knee cells and help to repair the damage.”

The Monty Python star credited the treatment, which he has been going for some years, with helping him look and feel young.

“I’ve been doing that for some years and the astonishing thing is that you don’t hear much about it,” he added.

“I look younger than my age and it’s entirely down to stem cell therapy and not because I’m a wonderful person, which I am, but that doesn’t affect my looks.”

The comedy great, who has been gracing our television screens for more than five decades, is currently starring in the second series of the BBC comedy Hold The Sunset.

Throughout his fruitful career, the 79-year-old star, who co-founded Monty Python, has been a screenwriter, producer and comedian and starred in a number of movies such as Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Meaning of Life, A Fish Called Wanda, Time Bandits and Rat Race, just to name a few.
