Actress Tanya Roberts, best known for playing Bond girl Stacey Sutton in A View to a Kill as well as Julie Rogers in Charlie’s Angels, has passed away at the age of 65.
Reports claim the star, whose official name is Victoria Leigh Blum, collapsed after returning home from a walk with her dogs on Christmas Eve. According to tmz.com, Roberts’ rep said the actress was taken to hospital and put on a ventilator, but sadly her condition did not improve and she recently died. The publication also reported that her death was not Covid-19 related.
The tragic news has since been confirmed by Roberts’ friend Mike Pingel, who took to social media to tell fans of the devastating loss. In a post on Roberts’ official Facebook page he wrote, “I’m very sad to have to post this. Yes, Tanya passed away today. I’m heartbroken.”
It is a sad day for her fans, who remember her fondly from A View to a Kill alongside actor Roger Moore in 1985, and from Charlie’s Angels in the early ’80s. But her experience in the acting industry was far more than that, with Roberts starring in a wide range of other films, such as, Sheena, The Beastmaster, Sins of Desire, Night Eyes and Inner Sanctum.
Since news of her death broke, social media has been filled with tributes to the star, many from fans who were heartbroken to hear she had passed away so suddenly.
“I was so sad to read that Tanya Roberts has passed away at the age of 65,”@madefortvmayhem wrote on Twitter. “I always called her the ‘underrated angel’, because I don’t feel like she was appreciated enough during her short stint on Charlie’s Angels, but I thought she was really great. What sad news. I adore her.”
“Tanya Roberts has died,”@StarfireLounge said. “She was only 65. She meant a lot to me as a kid and when that happens, as long as the celebrity never does anything to ruin that vibe, you always love them. And she always seemed kind, so she always mattered to me. Jesus this is awful.”
While @DonCoscarelli added, “I just heard the sad news that actress Tanya Roberts passed away. Tanya was a beautiful person, inside and out. I will always remember Tanya for being incredibly sweet and for her genuine love of animals. She was beloved by Beastmasters fans everywhere. RIP.”
