Bindi Irwin supports hospitalised husband Chandler Powell following surgery

Bindi Irwin has spent the week by the hospital bedside of her husband Chandler Powell following a recent health scare and unexpected surgery.

The 25-year-old Chandler took to Instagram on Wednesday, August 10, to express his gratitude for his wife who has been “taking the best care” of him following his tonsillectomy.

Chandler shared a post-procedure snap of himself wearing a hospital gown in bed next to the smiling 24-year-old Wildlife Warrior.

“Just wanted to write a note to my amazing wife,” he captioned the post.

“I had to get my tonsils out and she has been taking the best care of me. I’m so lucky to be loved by you, @bindisueirwin.”

“Also, thank you Bunny (my awesome mum-in-law) for taking care of Grace while we’ve been in the hospital and I’ve been recovering.”

Bindi responded to the sweet message in the comments section of Chandler’s post, saying: “Sweetheart, always always always here for you. Being married to you is the very best and I’m so proud of you. ”

Fans also shared their well wishes for Powell, with one user commenting ” Wishing you a quick recovery @chandlerpowell You’re definitely in the best hands.”

Many also sympathised with Chandler following his recent surgery

“I’ve heard getting tonsils out as an adult is really painful. Lucky you have a great family to look after you.”

“Not a fun operation Chandler! I know … I had it done! Always nice to have a loved one to help!”

“It’s so hard to get your tonsils out when you’re older I was 20 years old. Just drink a lot of fluids. Heal fast feel better.”

Many others were quick to remind the former wakeboarder that while having your tonsils removed is “awful” and “rough” it presents the perfect opportunity to “eat some ice cream”.

Chandler’s tonsillectomy comes weeks after the family celebrated Bindi’s 24th birthday, where the mother-of-one debuted a new look.

Chandler had also taken the opportunity to gush over his wife while wishing her a happy birthday.

Bindi and Chandler first met in 2013 when he was in Australia for a wakeboarding competition and visited  Australia Zoo where Bindi was giving a tour.

Powell eventually moved to Australia in 2018, following a long-distance relationship between the pair. He proposed to Bindi a year after his move to Oz.
