Legendary Australian entertainer Patti Newton has been honoured with a Walk of Fame star at the Adelaide Festival Centre, a tribute not only to her stellar career but also echoing the recognition bestowed on her late husband, Bert Newton, years earlier.
The popular Australian singer, actor, dancer, and radio and television presenter, was honoured with her own star on the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Walk of Fame while enchanting audiences as the Bird Woman in the iconic production of Mary Poppins.
“It’s an absolute honour for me to receive this star, I think it’s wonderful and I feel very privileged and grateful to be receiving this award,” she said.
“I think Bert would be extremely happy about it, knowing that he already had a star, and he’d love the fact that we’re both together too and that’s how we will always stay.”
Patti’s late and beloved husband, iconic entertainer Bert Newton also has a star on the Walk of Fame for his performance in The Sound of Music at Festival Theatre in 2001.
Adelaide Festival Centre CEO & Artistic Director Douglas Gautier AM said “There is no doubt Patti’s performance in Mary Poppins has been received enthusiastically by Adelaide audiences, night after night, and we wanted to honour her many years of service in the entertainment industry while she was in Adelaide.”
Patti took to Instagram to celebrate her latest honour, telling fans that with her star just “up the path from Bert” they will now “always be together”.
“Had the absolute honour yesterday of receiving the @adelaidefescent Walk of Fame Star. Just up the path from Bert… so now we’ll always be together, Thank you Adelaide! We’ve loved you,” she wrote.

Fans inundated Patti with congratulatory messages for her latest honour, many assuring her that Bert would be filled with pride.
“You’ll always be together anyway but I LOOOOOOVE this for you! Congratulations Patti,” one fan wrote.
“A lovely gesture Patti. You have been entertaining the public for many years now and thoroughly deserve this fitting tribute. Congratulations!”
“Congrats sweetheart Bert would be so proud,” commented another.
“How wonderful! Congratulations Patti!”
Following her husband’s passing, Patti has shown remarkable strength as she carries on her work in the entertainment industry.
In addition to her incredible work on stage, Patti has also made a constant effort to honour her husband’s legacy and keep his memory alive.
Most recently Patti took to social media to share a bittersweet tribute to her late husband on what would have been his 85th birthday.
“Miss you everyday my beautiful man. Happy Birthday always in our hearts ❤️ love you x,” she captioned the post.

Bert passed away on October 30, 2021, at age 83 after a long health battle, he was undergoing palliative care at a private clinic in Melbourne when he died. Both the Australian public and the entertainment world mourned the showbiz legend during a state funeral in mid-November 2021.
