Barbra Streisand celebrates milestone 80th birthday

Musical and acting icon Barbra Streisand has celebrated her 80th birthday on Sunday, April 24, surrounded by close family and celebrity friends.

The A Star is Born actress held an intimate gathering at her Malibu home to celebrate the special milestone, which saw celebrity guests including husband James Brolin, and his son Josh Brolin. Coldplay’s Chris Martin and girlfriend Dakota Johnson were also in attendance.

Stepson Brolin took to social media on Sunday, April 24, to post a touching tribute to his famed step mum, celebrating her talent and legacy.

“There’s something about the weather of a birthday that moves memorable,” Brolin wrote.

“Today is yours and the weather holds fast but in the background storms churn and mate and what might come (or what might were) are days of creative ebullience or that digging down to learn oneself along this ever deepening circus trajectory of a life.

“Year by year we memorialize the given day that you woke up to the world and the world woke up to you — and from that day on exposed a talent painted in wildflower gold, museum reds and maybe even sometimes all in early blossoming Springs. Happy Birthday.”

The post received an outpour of love and attention from fans as many commented their own birthday messages for Streisand.

“Your step mom is beautiful and I grew up watching her act and listening to her sing. A soundtrack to my life. How fortunate you are to be surrounded with such beauty. Happy birthday Barbara,” wrote one fan.

“Happy Birthday to a woman of grace. A woman who has the confidence of a bull. You took on this world and made others take note. A Star is born, yet not as bright as you,” another commented.

“Happy birthday to this amazing woman and The voice in my head everytime someone is trying to rain on my parade.”

American record giant, Columbia Records, also took to Instagram to acknowledge Streisand’s milestone as the company praised the star’s generous charity support.

“Happy birthday to the iconic singer, actress, director, songwriter and philanthropist Barbra Streisand. We applaud her support of The Jewish Federation’s Ukraine Jewish Community Relief Fund and wish her all the best on this special day,” the post read.

Streisand’s outstanding career has spanned over the course of six decades, having received a number of esteemed awards including multiple Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards and Golden Globe Awards. She is the first known woman to write, produce, direct and feature in a substantial studio film, A Star is Born.
