Bindi Irwin took to Instagram on Thursday to share a loving photo of her parents on what would have been their 28th wedding anniversary. The post showed late Aussie icon Steve Irwin dressed in his signature khaki green outfit, with an arm around wife Terri who can be seen cuddling a baby kangaroo in her arms.
Bindi, who is newly married herself, wished her parents a happy anniversary before sweetly thanking them on behalf of herself and her younger brother Robert. She wrote: “Mum & Dad, Happy Anniversary. There are no words to describe how much I love you both. Thank you for teaching me and Robert the meaning of unconditional love.”

Terri and Steve were married in 1992 and were married for 14 years before Steve tragically died in 2006 while filming on the Great Barrier Reef. Terri has notably never remarried but has instead continued on his wildlife legacy alongside her children at their family-run zoo, Australia Zoo, in Queensland.
Terri Irwin also shared a heart wrenching statement about her late husband on Twitter after retweeting a beautiful video of the couple from an interview on 60 Minutes Australia. Above the nostalgic video she wrote: “I love him. I miss him. I’m proud of everyone who is standing with us to continue his mission and share his message. Steve’s legacy lives on.”

The sweet clip sees the couple passionately talking about meeting each other at one of Steve’s wildlife demonstrations in 1991. They were married just months later and spent their honeymoon filming their first wildlife television show together.
And just like her parents, Bindi, who is now 21, also met her husband Chandler Powell at the zoo with the pair recently celebrating their own wedding in March this year. The couple tied the knot in a secret, intimate ceremony that was pulled together at the last minute in light of the Covid-19 social distancing restrictions.
The ceremony was held at Australia Zoo with Bindi writing on her Instagram page at the time: “Mum helped me get ready, Robert walked me down the aisle, Chandler became my husband and together we lit a candle in Dad’s memory. We shared tears and smiles and love. Thankfully, since we all live at Australia Zoo as a family, we could be there for each other. To everyone reading this – stay safe, social distance and remember LOVE WINS!”
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Robert Irwin gushed about his older sister and said: “Words cannot describe how happy and proud I am that today you started your married life and celebrated love during a difficult time for our world.”
