If you’re trying to clean dirty oven trays, you don’t want to spend a lot of time or money on cleaning products that still leave food residue behind.

But one cleaning queen has come up with a solution that will remove all grease and grime from your trays and all she used was just two inexpensive items you likely have at home.

Lynsey Crombie, who goes by the name lynsey_queenofclean, truly deserves her royal moniker as she regularly uploads clever and inexpensive hacks to brighten your life.

Recently she shared a hack on Instagram and captioned it, “when Life Gives You Lemons… Clean with Them!”

Explaining that her oven trays were looking “worse for wear” the cleaning wiz demonstrated how she saved her oven trays. At first she cut a lemon in half.

Next, she added some bicarb soda to the cut side then gave the lemon half “a good squeeze” and scrubbed the tray over with the sudsy half lemon “scrubber”.

“These two powerhouses cut through grease and grime with ease, making light work of dirty oven trays,” she said.

Once she finished scrubbing, Crombie simply rinsed off the dirt and suds with water, and the tray was spotless.

“And the smell? INSANE! So fresh and zesty!” she added.

Many who viewed the video were impressed by the hack and were enthusiastic to try out the natural cleaning solution.

“Looks great,” one commented.

“I love cleaning with lemons.”

“How satisfying,” another wrote.

“Brilliant.”

Citrus fruit has many applications besides eating or drinking. It can also be used as a home-made deodorizer which Canadian cleaning expert Mary Futher demonstrated with a simple yet effective solution that will banish lingering food smells in moments.

Futher’s secret weapon? Nothing more than a simple cup of boiling water with a citrus twist. In a recent TikTok video, the domestic expert shared the foolproof method for banishing stubborn cooking odours that seem to linger endlessly.

“You want to start by boiling a cup of water on the stove,” she explained.

“Then take a lemon or an orange, cut it in quarters, keep the skin on and pop it in the boiling water.”

It’s that simple! The citrus-infused steam works wonders in neutralising and replacing unwanted food smells, leaving your home smelling fresh and delightful.
