Cracked heels can be more than just a cosmetic issue — they’re uncomfortable, often unsightly, and for many of us, they’re reason enough to avoid open shoes altogether.

So, what can you do to restore softness and give your heels a little TLC?

One simple home remedy has been making the rounds — and it’s as budget-friendly as it is easy. All you need is a few common household items and about 15 minutes of downtime.

The DIY Foot Soak Recipe:

  • ¼ cup of Listerine (any variety)

  • ¼ cup of vinegar

  • ½ cup of warm water (or hot, if preferred)

How to use it:

Pour the ingredients into a small tub or bucket and soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes. Once done, gently wipe your heels with a washcloth — you’ll be surprised at how easily the dead skin comes away.

While this isn’t a substitute for professional medical advice or treatment for more serious foot concerns, many people say they’ve found it helpful for light exfoliation and softening dry, cracked skin.

Plus, it’s a great excuse to sit down, relax, and give your feet the care they deserve.

Give it a try, and if you love the results, it might just become your go-to foot ritual.
