A savvy mum has surprised thousands of people across the globe and revealed her trick to getting mirrors looking sparkling clean and streak-free – and you probably won’t even need to visit the supermarket to get the same results!
Taking to social media platform TikTok, the woman, who goes by the username mama_mila_, claimed the “secret to streak-free appliances” is possibly already in your bathroom and apparently does a wonderful job of cleaning the front of your oven. So what is this magic product? Shaving cream!
In a video posted to her page, she showed just how well it works. “How to give your mirrors a streak-free shine (and keep them clean for longer),” she said. “Spray one pump of shaving cream on a microfibre cloth and buff. Then continue buffing with a dry microfibre cloth.”

She added, “Shaving cream is amazing at removing streaks, defogging mirrors and preventing fingerprints!”
The video has since received more than 13,000 likes and close to 200 comments from others, who claim they are eager to give it a go, or have tried the trick and seen equally amazing results.
“Thanks for the tip,” one person commented on TikTok. “I’ve been so frustrated with cleaning my mirrors. The streaks are just always there.”
While another said, “I tried this on an old discoloured mirrored wardrobe that I was going to throw out. Amazing!” And a third added, “Just tried it on the oven with shaving gel and it works brilliant!”
Meanwhile, if your shower screens are looking cloudy, there’s another hack you might want to try. Last year, an Aussie mum sent the internet into a frenzy when she revealed her simple trick to cleaning the shower cubicle, and there’s a chance you already have everything you need at home for this too.
Tara Lee shared her handy tip to the ‘Mums Who Clean’ Facebook group, where it received the big thumbs up from fellow members. The woman explained that she used Kmart’s $2 exfoliating gloves to make her shower glass sparkle.
“I’m sure everyone knows what these are, but if you don’t, you’re about to learn!” Tara wrote. “They’re SHOWER cleaning gloves! You spray or wipe down your shower with whatever cleaning products you use (I personally like to use Jif), let it sit for five minutes and then scrub with these bad boys! Tried it once and never turned back.
“And, yes, I did buy myself a new exfoliating glove too,” she added. “You’re welcome ladies!”
