Australians have a love affair with coffee but one thing we are not enamored with is the stains it creates when we spill it on our clothes.
But the accident-prone among us can now relax, because a fourth-generation dry cleaner has shared his secrets for removing coffee stains from your clothes, and his method is surprisingly simple.
Zachary Posniak shared his cleaning hack on social media, and as he explains you can treat your stains without having to change your clothes.
In his TikTok video, Posniak shows how to use two paper towels, a drop or two of dishwashing liquid and a bit of water do away with stains.
“You’ll have a wet spot for 30 to 60 minutes but it’s better than a stain all day,” he explains.
To get rid of your coffee stain, drip some dishwashing liquid on your towel of choice, dip into a small container of water and then gently but firmly dab the towel on the stain, in ”up and down motions”.
“Rubbing can make the stain bigger,” he warns.
You can also use paper towels or napkins, if cloth towels are not available.
The hack can also be used on tea and wine stains.
Fans quickly expressed how impressed they were with the technique.
“Thanks!!!” one wrote.
“Bookmarked for sure.”
While Posniack’s tips are helpful, he is not the only influencer out there who can save your clothes from stubborn drink stains.
Home hack expert Anita Birges also enjoys the challenge of saving those soiled items where stubborn wine stains established themselves.
For those stubborn red wine stains that have firmly established themselves, Birges suggests these essential steps:
1. Pour 2 cups of soda water into a bowl together with 2 tablespoons of bicarbonate/ baking soda and mix until dissolved.
2. Place stained area of your garment into the bowl.
3. Agitate and soak for about 30mins.

“Not only will these clever clothes cleaning hacks save your sanity but will save you time and money as well!!” Birges added.
