Princess Mary dazzles in elegant burgundy gown adorned with jewels

Princess Mary put on an elegant display at the Danish royal family’s annual New Year’s celebration, stepping out in a stunning burgundy gown adorned with jewels.

The Aussie-born royal looked picture perfect in the floor-length dress, which was complete with diamonds and rubies, for the traditional reception at Amalienborg Palace in Denmark.

Mary pulled her brunette locks away from her face in a low bun, while she wore a stunning tiara on top her head. She smiled broadly for cameras outside the palace with a touch of blush on her cheeks and a pink lip adding a further pop of colour.

The mother-of-four was joined by her husband Frederik who wore a formal black military uniform with gold detailing and buttons. Both Mary and Frederik also sported the Order of the Elephant for the special occasion.

The Danish order dates back to the 1400s and it considered Denmark’s highest-ranked honour.

A photo of the couple in their best attire was shared on the Danish royal family’s social media with many fans quick to comment on how lovely the two looked as they marked the beginning of a new decade.

“Happy New Year, we can be proud to have you as role models in our country,” @pedervilman wrote on the Instagram post.

“Wow, what a nice dress,” @hellehaltrupbruun said. “Happy New Year.”

“So beautiful and talented our crown prince couple,” @kije79 added.

Mary and Frederik were joined by fellow members of the royal family for the special event, including Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie.

Marie sported a similar style gown to her sister-in-law, however hers was in the colour blue. The 43-year-old looked gorgeous in the long-sleeved dress with her hair falling gracefully to her shoulders and a pretty tiara glittering in the light.

Meanwhile, Joachim wore a military uniform like his brother with a collection of medals pinned to his chest.

Queen Margrethe was also in attendance, wearing a beautiful aquamarine gown with embroidered detailing and a fur throw over her shoulders to keep her warm. She paired the elegant gown with gold shoes and a gold tiara adorned with emerald gems.
