Julie Bishop certainly knows how to make a fashion statement, and we reckon her latest look might be one of her best ever.

The former politician dressed to impress on Saturday night as she slipped on a slinky 1920s-inspired gown for Channel Seven’s annual Telethon fundraiser. Julie uploaded a series of snaps of her outfit to social media, and her followers couldn’t get enough of the glamorous look.

The 64-year-old former foreign affairs minister showed off her honed figure in the jaw-dropping lilac gown, which featured extravagant beading detail and a flapper-style fringed skirt. Julie paired the floor-length frock with a simple silver handbag and pulled her hair back into a simple up-do.

“Ready for the Ball,” she wrote on Instagram, alongside a photograph of herself and a group of equally well-dressed female friends. However Julie did add that she was missing her partner David Panton, who is in Sydney and unable to enter WA due to the ongoing pandemic.

“You always look amazing. Especially in all shades of pink,” one follower wrote. Another commented: “You are a beautiful lady inside and out.”

While another said: “You ladies looked even more fabulous in real life!!”

It’s not the first time in recent weeks Julie has made such a bold style statement either, as earlier this month she posed in a show-stopping hot pink gown – all in the name of charity.

The former lawyer uploaded a series of incredible photographs to Instagram which showed her posing up a storm atop a buoy off the coast of Perth’s famous Cottesloe Beach. And one of the photos showed her alongside a team of lifesavers, who were most likely roped in to help the ex-lawyer mount the floating device.

“Frocking up for #Frocktober2020 raising funds for ovarian cancer research @ocrf,” she wrote. “The Pink Frock designed @jaimiesortino will be auctioned online details to follow.”
