She is known for her timeless elegance and sense of style, so it’s no surprise that British star Joanna Lumley opted for a classic outfit when she stepped out on Friday.

The Absolutely Fabulous star looked gorgeous in a vibrant floral-patterned full skirt which fell all the way to the floor, revealing just a hint of a black court shoe, and featured wide pleats that flattered Joanna’s svelte figure perfectly.

The 72-year-old actress, who is as well-known for her velvet voice as she is for her on-screen roles, looked stunning as she posed on the red carpet at the BAFTA Film Gala in London wearing the black and royal blue ensemble.

She completed the effortlessly sophisticated look with a simple black camisole and cardigan, allowing the bold pattern of her skirt and a statement blue necklace to do the talking at the event, which was held ahead of this Sunday’s prestigious awards ceremony.

The British icon also showed off her dazzling personality as she had a bit of a laugh on the red carpet, striking a number of over-the-top poses for the photographers at the event.

Last month Joanna Lumley and her Ab Fab co-star Jennifer Saunders bid a teary farewell to their friend and colleague Dame June Whitfield, who starred alongside them in the hugely popular BBC sitcom.

The two talented actresses joined a crowd of mourners at All Hallows Church in Tillington, West Sussex, in January to say their final goodbyes after Whitfield passed away at the age of 93 at the end of last year.

Speaking out following the service, an emotional Lumley told the Daily Mail she had to “mop up” her makeup during the touching funeral.

Describing the service as more of a celebration of life than a sombre occasion, she explained it is exactly what her friend would have wanted.

“The funeral was touching beyond words, funerals are always touching because the person is actually there and so many people have said they have the feeling she hasn’t gone, her spirit was there, funny, generous and lovely,” the Daily Mail reported she said.

Comedian Jennifer Saunders also gave a few words, describing the funeral as “absolutely marvellous”.
