Red was trending on the SAG Awards’ virtual red carpet on Sunday night, with the likes of Helen Mirren, Glenn Close and Gillian Anderson all stepping out in beautiful scarlet frocks. Others at the star-studded event included Aussie actress Nicole Kidman, who set up an impromptu photoshoot at home in a dazzling beaded dress.

However, it was Helen, 75, who stole the show, displaying two different ensembles. The first look included a beautiful red sequinned long-sleeved dress with a chunky necklace and matching earrings. Helen paired the gown with an elegant up-do and smoky eye make-up.

Keeping with the same theme, the British actress then changed into a red full-length gown, which featured a sweetheart neckline and big pink puffy sleeves. She swapped her chunky accessories for a pair of silver drop earrings.

Meanwhile, Glenn, 74, also glammed up for the virtual red carpet event in a stunning red gown by designer Oscar de la Renta. The actress, who was nominated for her ninth Screen Actors Guild Award for the Netflix movie Hillbilly Elegy, uploaded a snap to Instagram, which saw her sitting on her front porch. Glenn’s dog Pip was also in the picture.

“My blissful thanks to the Oscar de la Renta team for the effortlessly gorgeous gown I wore at home for the SAG Awards,” she captioned the post. “Thank you! Thank you! Pip loves it.”

Meanwhile, Nicole, who was also up for a nomination on the night thanks to her role as Grace Fraser in the popular television miniseries The Undoing, looked stunning in a Giorgio Armani dress. Nicole’s dreamy long-sleeved number featured a pinky-nude tulle overlay that was embellished with multi-coloured beads. The actress shared several snaps from her photoshoot on her Instagram account ahead of the awards ceremony.

“Backyard Photoshoot for the #SAGAwards tonight,” she captioned the post. “Thank you to all of my fellow actors for this so appreciated acknowledgment, and thank you @GiorgioArmani for the dress. Love to you all!”
