Now that winter is here, it’s much harder to air out our bathrooms and keep our towels and mats dry but a household guru has shared her “weird” but “logical” trick to dry out our soggy bathroom mats.
Taking to social media, Lauren from laurendotmedias shared the secret to keeping her bathmats dry but admitted her husband thought the hack was weird.
In a video she posted to TikTok, Lauren revealed she kept a plastic clothes hanger clipped on to her bathmat and simply hung it on a shower rail every time she was done.
“It just makes logical sense,” she posted at the start of the clip.

While many of her followers thought the hack was weird, they were also very impressed and rushed to the comment section to sing her praises.
“It’s weird AND genius,” one commented.
“Well, it’s weird in the sense that it’s uncommon, but it’s also genius. I’ll start implementing it,” one added.
“Is it weird? Yes. But is it also the most brilliant idea I have ever seen and will I be adopting this going forward? Also yes,” another commented.
“Weird? Yes. Logical? Also yes.”
“It’s genius. Not aestetically pleasing, but genius.”
With such a simple solution, you’ll help keep your bathmats dryer for longer but there are other smart ways to re-purposing common household items to make cleaning a breeze.
One such product is mouthwash, which can be used in a number of surprising ways around your home. Thanks to its antibacterial capabilities, there are many properties in this versatile household product that have surprising health benefits.
Here are some of its top everyday uses:
If you suffer from a dry or itchy scalp, try mixing some mouthwash with water.
Wash your hair with shampoo and conditioner as normal, then apply the mouthwash to the affected areas. Be sure to let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing. If possible, try and keep away from alcohol-based washes as it could inflame the area more.
If you wash your hands with soap and then add a tiny bit of mouthwash to the palm of your hands, you should find that it gets rid of the smell.
While toothbrushes are typically used twice a day, most people are unaware that bacteria can build up on the bristles of your brush. Because mouthwash is already designed to kill these kinds of germs, it’s a good idea to soak your brush in mouthwash once a week
To help assist with nail fungus, try mixing the mouthwash with the same amount of vinegar. Apply to the toenails evenly up to three times a day. It can take days or even weeks for results to appear, so be sure to stick with it for a while before giving up.
Simply dab some on a cotton bud or cotton ball and apply to the itchy area. It may sting at first but it will stop you from scratching almost instantly.
If you’ve got a bunch of flowers and want them to last a little longer, try adding some mouthwash to the vase. You will only need to dilute a tiny amount with some water to start seeing results. The amount to use depends on the size of your vase but typically no more than a capful is needed.
