Oily stains on clothes are one of life’s hassles that can test the patience of the most domestic among us. Now a superstar cleaner has come to our aid with a cleaning trick that will save your stained clothes from the rubbish tip.

Anita Birges is a well-known cleaning sensation who regularly takes to Instagram to share her household hacks. The home-organising genius recently shared her latest trick to remove oily stains from your attire.

In a video shared on Instagram Birges said, “it’s the oil stain removal hack that works like magic.”

You’ll need a plate, a good dishwashing liquid, bicarbonate soda and a little brush (an old, clean toothbrush will do).

In the video, Birges explains the five simple steps to remove those nasty stains from you apparel.

Firstly, place a plate behind the stain.

Next, cover the stain in dish soap to cut through the oil.

Then, sprinkle with bicarbonate soda (baking soda) to absorb the oil.

Then, grab your little brush and work the mixture in.

Lastly, leave for 10 minutes to marinate and then throw in the wash as usual. But make sure you do not put your recently washed clothes into the dryer, she warns.

“This works!! And works every single time,” she explains as she shows off the clean, stain free item.

Impressed fans took to the comment section to express their amazement and share their gratitude for Birges’ advice.

“Whattttt!!! Thank you,” one commented.

“Exactly the tip I needed *goes off to find the oil stained outfit.”

“Great tip.”

While other followers responded with how well the clothes-cleaning hack worked for them.

“I have been using this method this year – I agree it works every time – I just wash and rinse before popping into washing machine,” one person added.

“Yessss I use this all the time 🙌 works like a charm.”

While the results speak for themsleves, many of us need a little extra help to get rid of stains, especially for those who are both busy and clumsy.

But the accident-prone among us can now relax, because a fourth-generation dry cleaner has shared his secrets for removing coffee stains from your clothes, and his method is surprisingly simple.

Zachary Posniak shared his cleaning hack on social media, and as he explains you can treat your stains without having to change your clothes.

In his TikTok video, Posniak shows how to use two paper towels, a drop or two of dishwashing liquid and a bit of water do away with stains.

“You’ll have a wet spot for 30 to 60 minutes but it’s better than a stain all day,” he explains.

To get rid of your coffee stain, drip some dishwashing liquid on your towel of choice, dip into a small container of water and then gently but firmly dab the towel on the stain, in ”up and down motions”.

“Rubbing can make the stain bigger,” he warns.

You can also use paper towels or napkins, if cloth towels are not available.

The hack can also be used on tea and wine stains.

@jeeves_ny This is a 4th generation dry cleaners guide to removing a coffee stain while out and about. This guide will also work for wine and tea. 1) Grab two towels, napkins, or paper towels. A drop or two of dish soap. And a bit of water. 2) Put one towel behind the stain, then dab the second with some dish soap and water 3) DAB, do not rub, the stain. You want the stain to be pushed through the garment and onto the other towel. Rubbing can make the stain bigger 4) Use your body heat to dry it. You’ll have a wet spot for 30-60 minutes but it’s better than a stain all day!
