If you’ve ever had a thought about what it really means to age well – now is the time to speak up.

The NSW Government is calling on older Australians, along with those who work with and support them, to share their views as it reviews its long-term plan for seniors. The Ageing Well in NSW: Seniors Strategy 2021–2031 has reached its halfway point, and this check-in is more than just a formality – it’s a genuine chance to influence what the next five years will look like.

Because here’s the thing: ageing well isn’t one-size-fits-all.

For some, it’s about staying active, getting out and about, and remaining connected to friends, family and community. For others, it’s about having the right supports in place – whether that’s access to healthcare, transport, or simply feeling safe and comfortable at home.

And for many, it’s a combination of both – independence, dignity, and the ability to make your own choices as you grow older.

That’s exactly why this survey matters.

Too often, decisions about ageing are made without fully understanding the day-to-day realities people face. Rising living costs, access to services, social isolation, and navigating complex systems are all part of the picture. By sharing your experience, you can help ensure future policies reflect real lives – not just assumptions.

Importantly, this isn’t just for those already in retirement. If you’re approaching that stage, caring for someone, or working in the sector, your perspective is just as valuable.

The process is simple, and it won’t take long — but the impact could be significant.

The survey closes on Monday 13 April 2026, so there’s only a short window to get involved.

If you’ve ever wanted to see better support, stronger communities, or more thoughtful planning for older Australians, this is your chance to be heard.

After all, the future of ageing well in NSW should be shaped by the people living it.
