Rock legend Rod Stewart may have been a legendary lothario, but he’s made it clear he was always a gentleman with his groupies – though perhaps not exactly the type of gentleman their fathers might’ve preferred.
The 73-year-old star admits he even became a little blase about putting on a performance in bed for female fans when he was in hit band Faces with Ronnie Wood. “Women literally used to throw themselves at us,” Stewart revealed in an interview with The Mirror newspaper. “It really was, ‘Oh, not again tonight, Ronnie’.”
“I can only speak from my perspective, but as a rock ‘n’ roll singer, I used to show off with the girls,” he added, however, in a hint that he didn’t often say no to a lovely lady. Faces were huge from 1969 to 1975 with Stewart as the lead singer, touring the US regularly and Australia and New Zealand in 1974 and topping charts with songs including ‘Stay with Me’ and ‘Had Me a Real Good Time’.

Stewart was at pains in the Mirror interview, however, to emphasise that he has always been respectful in his behaviour towards fans. “I would never touch a girl unless she wanted me to,” he said. In fact, he said he wouldn’t change a thing about about his experiences as a teen rock star.
Asked if he would give his 19-year-old self any advice, Stewart replied, “What would I teach myself? F*** all. I admire myself. I had a bit of spunk about me. I love that”.
Nowadays, though, the singer is very happily married to English model Penny Lancaster, 47. The couple tied the knot in 2007, and share two children together, Alastair, 12, and Aiden, seven.

“I have been married three times and I say this with all honesty, I have got a great woman now,” Stewart said his his wife, calling her the “diamond by my side”. He admits that that may be because he understands women a lot better than he used to!
Stewart has been married twice before, once to American actress Alana Hamilton and a second time to model Rachel Hunter, and has eight children in total as well as one grandchild.
