He may have welcomed his fourth child into the world just 10 days ago, but Today show host Karl Stefanovic has wasted no time in returning to work as he was back at the helm of the Channel Nine breakfast show on Monday morning.

However, while the 45-year-old presenter is no stranger to parenting as he also shares three children with ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn, it seems the mix of caring for a newborn and rising early to record live television may take some adjusting to, as Karl admitted he was “struggling” during this morning’s program.

“How are you going on your first day back, Karl?” Ally Langdon asked her co-host, according to News.com.au. Karl then replied: “I’ve been struggling a bit, to be honest.”

Ally – who joined the show at the start of the year, after former presenters Deb Knight and Georgie Gardner were asked due to falling ratings – then asked Karl if he was struggling emotionally or physically. The dad-of-four then laughed and said: “Everything hurts. I’m tired. Emotional.”

Karl’s wife of almost 18-months, Jasmine Yarbrough, gave birth to beautiful baby Harper May on Friday, May 1, at North Shore Private Hospital. The couple shared their happy news with the public less than 24 hours after their daughter was born, as Karl’s colleague and friend Richard Wilkins confirmed the news live on air.

“Harper and Jasmine are doing well and dad had a great night’s sleep,” Karl told Today. “I am in awe. Harper is absolutely perfect.”

The Channel Nine breakfast show also uploaded a sweet photograph onto their Instagram page, alongside the caption: “Karl Stefanovic and wife Jasmine Yarbrough have welcomed the arrival of a baby girl.”

And it seems that the public can expect to see much more of the adorable bub in the coming weeks and months as both parents have already shared images of Harper on social media. Taking to Instagram last week, proud dad Karl shared a snap of Harper taking a nap on his chest, wrapped in a cute striped hospital blanket.

“Harper May. May your life be filled with as much love as I feel. My children. My family. My wife. My life,” the 45-year-old presenter wrote alongside the image.

While on Sunday, new mum Jasmine shared a Mother’s Day post in which she thanked her newborn daughter for “choosing her” as her mother, as well as paying tribute to her own mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. The fashion designer wrote: “Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful Mumma Bear, my Nana (now a great grandma) and my amazing mother in-law Jenny Penny. Mumma you are already such a good G-Ma to our Harper May. It’s my first Mother’s Day and my heart is so full because of you Harper May, thank you for choosing me to be your Mumma.”
