Yellowstone fans it’s time to welcome Harrison Ford and Dame Helen Mirren into the Dutton family as the two Hollywood veterans are set to star in the show’s new prequel 1932.
At the moment no further detail has been announced on the specific roles these two stars will play in the next instalment of the Dutton origin story, but Paramount+ has hinted that fans will be following a new generation of the Dutton family as they navigate life in the early twentieth century “when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition, and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west”.
The casting announcement of the Yellowstone spinoff comes after the wrap up of the show’s one-off prequel 1883 which starred Tim McGraw (James Dutton) and Faith Hill (Margaret Dutton) and focused on the Dutton family in the late 19th century as they ventured west across the Great Plains to set up their iconic Montana ranch.
Time and time again, this Western drama has proven to be a massive hit globally with the limited series becoming the most-watched title ever on Paramount+.
Meanwhile, the original Yellowstone, which stars Kevin Costner (John Dutton) has started production for its fifth season, after hitting a record-breaking fourth season which saw the series receive a nomination for a Screen Actors Award and Producers Guild Award.

In an interview with Variety, Executive Producer David C. Glasser says the show’s co-creator and writer, Taylor Sheridan, is “deep into Season five”. Stating that Sheridan has great ideas he’s sure the fanbase will love.
The Wall Street Journal has also reported that season five will have a total of 14 episodes but will be split into a two-parter, with the first half expected to premiere during the mid-year.
Hype for the Western drama dates back to 2018 when Costner’s Dutton, the widowed patriarch of the long-running Montana ranch, and his four dysfunctional adult children were first introduced to the small screen.
Featuring breathtaking cinematography paired with a gripping storyline with power grabs, ruthless fights and catty family feuds, this show quickly became Paramount Networks’s most-loved cable entertainment program.
While no official release date for the newest season has been announced, all four seasons of Yellowstone are available for streaming on Stan.
