Liz Hurley steals son’s thunder in cleavage-baring dress at 16th party

Liz Hurley’s built her career on wearing very little in front of adoring cameras, but whether her usual cleavage-baring attire was suitable for her son’s 16th birthday party has left fans and fashion commentators divided.

Admittedly, the 52-year-old model looked stunning in a sequinned dress, her famous bosoms decidedly centre-stage as she posed alongside son Damian for an Instagram photo from the bash. With a plunging neckline and tiny spaghetti straps, it can only have been some very clever use of ‘tit tape’ that ensured she wasn’t totally exposed in the figure-hugging dress,.

But while many of Hurley’s Insta followers showered the pair with praise, commenting on how similar they look, others were shocked at her outfit choice, accusing her of steal all the attention on her son’s big day. (Damian opted for an outfit that was low-key, at least by comparison, donning a Chinese embroidery-style silk smoking jacket with black shirt underneath.)

One social media user commented that Liz was an “embarrassing mum,” while another said, it was “typical of Liz, using this moment to ‘showcase her assets’ and focus the attention back on her!”.

One even cheekily wrote: “Sorry, can’t see your son in the pic!”. And another added: “Damian is really not what I’m looking at in this photo.”

However, other users defended her choice, with one writing: “If you’ve got it… flaunt it!!! X,” meanwhile more users commented on how handsome and grown-up Damian, who Hurley largely raised as a single mother, looked. Damian’s father, US millionaire producer Steve Bing, had a long legal fight with Hurley over child support, while his family claimed that the actress had tricked Bing into fathering her child – claims Hurley denied.

Liz’s cricket star ex Shane Warne, meanwhile, studiously ignored all the reaction to the model’s very obvious cleavange, as he wrote: “Happy birthday D man, hope EH is spoiling you !”

It comes after a difficult few weeks for the Hurley family, in which Liz’s nephew Miles survived a stabbing in south-west London. He was treated at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, and is thought to have lost more than four pints of blood.

His recovery appears to have gone well since, and Liz shared a selfie of them together over Easter, writing: “Thanking God today that I have my nephew @mileshurley1 with us for Easter. His knife wound is still oozing blood but he’s alive and we’re thankful for that.

“The knifemen who attacked him are still at large and roaming around London. If you don’t feel ok with that, you should demand more police on your streets, more CCTV, more stop and search and harsher sentencing for carrying lethal weapons. Happy Easter xx
