Glenn Close bucks tradition in striking white mother-of-the-bride dress

They say you should never wear white to a wedding, especially your own daughter’s, but Fatal Attraction star Glenn Close has bucked tradition and stepped out in a beautiful off-white gown for her daughter’s nuptials at the weekend. 

The 71-year-old actress looked every bit the proud mother as she hosted guests at her glamorous multi-million-dollar Bedford Hills home in New York to watch her only child, Annie Starke, marry Marc Albu in front of a host of celebrity guests. 

Rather than going for the more traditional colours often chosen for mother-of-the-bride outfits, Close opted for a beautiful off-white coat complete with a ruffled colour and pearlescent buttons. 

The actress paired the striking coat with gold dangly earrings and subtle make-up featuring a hint of blush and dark pink lipstick. Emmy-nominated make-up artist Alexandra Urvois, who has done Close’s make-up numerous times in the past, created Starke and Close’s looks for the day and shared a series of pictures from the special day. 

“Yesterday I had the ultimate honour of doing these two incredibly special ladies on an incredibly special day. It was magic,” she wrote.

Famous guests in attendance included Robert F Kennedy Jr, who is Starke’s godfather, and Rumer and Tallulah Willis, daughters of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. 

According to The Daily Mail, guests enjoyed a delicious feast of a pork roast, fresh oysters and had a well-stocked bar to keep them going throughout the night.

The ceremony itself took place among beautiful greenery outside Close’s mansion, which decorated with the help of David Stark Designs, who took to Instagram to share a moment from the big day.

“A magical ceremony, overlooking a glourious wildflower field. Sure, the temperature was soaring outside, but the warmth here came from the palpable love in this outdoor room. We can make it look pretty. We can pick the right spot, but we can’t manufacture LOVE. And that, folks, was here…,” the post said. 

The night before, Kennedy shared a happy snap from the rehearsal dinner, revealing his daughter was maid-of-honour for the special occasion.

“My goddaughter Annie Starke’s wedding. With her dad, John, her mum, Glenn Close, and my daughter Kick, her best friend and maid of honour,” he wrote.

This time the the mother-of-the-bride opted for a more casual black dress with a floral design for the rehearsal dinner.
