Michael Buble has been through hell over the last few years as he was forced to retreat from the public eye after his eldest son Noah, now four, was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer in 2016.

Now the 42-year-old has revealed the lasting impact the emotional turmoil had on him in an emotional interview with the Daily Telegraph’s Stellar magazine, and said it has actually made his marriage to wife Luisana Lopilato stronger.

Describing the entire period of his life as “hell”, father-of-three Michael admitted nothing will scare him now and his son’s strength gave him a whole new perspective – especially when he began to improve and overcome his illness.

“My wife and I, we got happy, we fell in love again. We saw the very worst and also the best of each other,” he told the mag.

Michael admitted it was the huge outpouring of love and support from his family, friends and fans that helped him keep going at the worst points of Noah’s health battle – and he even got a surprise call from Elton John to pass on his best wishes after hearing the news.

The singer has always wanted to keep the more graphic details of Noah’s cancer fight private, and recalled the moment he described some of them to a friend previously – claiming hell “seems like a really nice place to vacation” in comparison.

Now Michael and his wife, who also share two-year-old son Elias, have welcomed their third child , daughter Vida Amber Betty. However, he insisted it wasn’t necessarily planned – but an amazing surprise nonetheless.

“I don’t know that [having another child] was purposeful, there was just so much happiness and this incredible sense of relief,” he added.

Noah is now on the mend and has reportedly been given the all clear, but Michael previously admitted he almost gave up music after his diagnosis.

“I’ve been to hell,” he told the Herald Sun at the time. “I don’t talk about the whole story, not even to my friends because it hurts too much. It’s my boy.

“He’s a superhero, he doesn’t need to relive it over and again. But I’ve been to hell. And you know what, hell seems like a really nice place to vacation compared to where we’ve been.”

The couple, who met in 2009 while filming Michael’s video for single Haven’t Met You Yet, confirmed the youngster was making a good recovery at the end of last year, with Michael describing the period as an “emotional rollercoaster”.

He’s now preparing to return to the stage, and previously said he wouldn’t be considering it if Noah wasn’t fully recovered – but admitted they’ll always be monitoring it.
