He’s one of Australia’s favourite TV personalities and Barry Du Bois continues to be honest and open about his cancer battle.

While he’s returned to the hugely popular The Living Room as a co-host, the 57-year-old admits it hasn’t been easy. On this week’s episode of the hit show, he told Doctor Chris Brown and Amanda Keller he was terrified after being diagnosed with cancer again.

Barry first announced his cancer had returned last year after six years in remission.

“It seems that my cancer has come back, reasonably aggressively now I have what is regarded as multiple myeloma,” he said on an episode of The Living Room last October. “We’ve got a cancer in my body that has created several tumours right through my body. Now I see an upside to that, this is just another fight for me that I am quite comfortable I am going to win.”

Since then, he’s been updating fans every step of the way. Barry regularly shares photos and videos on his Instagram page and explains the impacts his cancer treatment has on his life. Friday’s episode of The Living Room was no different. Barry is set to release a book, Life Force, which details his life and recent cancer battle. He teared up when talking about it.

“I don’t like to admit it, but I was scared this time around,” an emotional Barry told his co-hosts. “I’ve got my children there and I’m nearly 58 years old and I wanted to get down some of the life-lessons I’ve learned.”

He said it was also important to give others going through cancer information that he’s been exposed to. Barry added it was a different experience for everyone going through the disease.

“Everybody’s cancer journey is personal to them,” he said. “What I’m doing is sharing what’s worked for me and hopefully it’ll help some people out there as well.”

Barry first revealed he would be releasing a book on his life and cancer battle earlier this month. Taking to Instagram, he gave fans a taste of what to expect.

“Life is a gift & mine has had its fair share of adventure,” he wrote. “I share that journey & what I have learnt along the way about a better whole & healthy life.”

In addition to his story, the book will also include recipes of meals Barry ate before, during and after his cancer treatments. Throughout his journey, the father-of-two has also been honest about the side effects of treatment.

In one Instagram post, he admitted chemotherapy had caused lots of diarrhoea and nausea.

“400mg Chemo, 12 million Stem cells, loads of diarrhoea and nausea & infection & fever,” he wrote. “BUT I AM COMING BACK BABY!!! I am on the home run thanks to everyone for you love and support. #cancer #health #wholelife.”
