After weeks of anticipation, Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have finally set a location for their spring wedding.

Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday that the couple will say “I do” on May 29 at the Chapel Royal, which is located within the grounds of St James’s Palace in London. After the ceremony, a private reception, thrown by Her Majesty, will take place in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.

This won’t be the first royal wedding to take place there. The wedding of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert was also held at the Chapel Royal in February 1840.

“The wedding of HRH Princess Beatrice of York and Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi will take place on Friday 29 May 2020,” a statement on the royal family’s Instagram page read.

“Her Majesty The Queen has kindly given permission for the ceremony to take place at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace. The ceremony will be followed by a private reception, given by The Queen, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.”

Beatrice’s younger sister Princess Eugenie shared a cute throwback photo of herself and her sister on Instagram to mark the occasion. She captioned the post: “She’s so excited… Today the family announced Beatrice will marry Edo on 29th May 2020. Very proud of this moment.”

The announcement ends months of speculation over the date of the wedding, amidst the current situation involving her father the Duke of York. Prince Andrew stepped down from his royal duties at the end of last year after questions were raised in relation to his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

Prince Andrew has been previously blasted for appearing to fail to understand the gravity of Epstein’s offences. During an interview with the BBC’s Newsnight program, he admitted that he “let the side down” by staying in Epstein’s home in 2010, but denied claims by one of Epstein’s underage victims that she was forced to have sex with the prince.

Prince Andrew’s eldest daughter became engaged to property developer Edo in September 2019. At the time of their engagement, the couple said, in a joint statement: “We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together.

“We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.”

Edo popped the question whilst on holiday in Italy and Princess Eugenie took a series of beautiful shots of the newly-betrothed couple, which she shared on Instagram to mark the occasion. The 29-year-old wrote: “Beabea – wow! I’m so happy for you my dearest big sissy and dear Edo. It’s been a long time coming and you two are meant to be. [photo] by me!!”

The Palace is expected to release further information about Beatrice and Edo’s wedding in the coming months.
