Prince Harry and Meghan have delighted royal fans with a new close-up snap of their baby boy, while taking a moment to remember Harry’s mother Princess Diana in a moving Mother’s Day post online.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took to Instagram on Sunday to share the cute photo of little Archie, who was welcomed into the world last week.

In a post paying tribute to mothers past, present and future, the couple uploaded an image of the youngest royal’s tiny feet. Wrapped up warmly in a blanket Archie’s feet hang just outside, with one cradled in his mother’s hands.

Harry also included a tribute to his late mother, as the couple pictured baby Archie in front of a background of forget-me-nots – Diana’s favourite flowers.

“Paying tribute to all mothers today – past present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered,” the beautiful post read.

“We honor [sic] and celebrate each and every one of you. Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan and several countries across Europe.”

It added: “This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.”

The new parents also included a lovely quote by Nayyirah Waheed which recognises the importance of mothers.

“My mother was my first country; the first place I ever lived,” it read.

The newly released photo is only the second time the public have caught a glimpse of the bub as Meghan and Harry enjoy some alone time with their first child.

Days after the gorgeous boy was born they stepped out together as a family, posing for pictures at Windsor Castle.

The doting parents shared a series of adorable photographs of their bundle of joy with the world on the Sussex Royal Instagram page.

“Today The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are delighted to share their first public moment as a family,” the post read.

“They are so incredibly grateful for the warm wishes and support they’ve received from everyone around the world, since welcoming their son two days ago.”

The photographs, captured by photographer Chris Allerton, showed the proud parents happily embracing their new son at Windsor Castle.

In a separate post, the young couple confirmed Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and Meghan’s mother Doria had met the baby and that he’d been named.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor,” a caption read.
