Pippa Middleton’s idyllic, and pricey, honeymoon destination revealed

Your own private honeymoon island doesn't come cheap!

Her sister Kate may have married a prince, but its Pippa Middleton who’s getting the fairytale – honeymoon at least.

Less than 24-hours after walking down the aisle towards new husband James Matthews in a ceremony so lavish it rivalled her sister’s, Pippa, 33, and her billionaire partner were spotted touching down in LA.

The pair are on their way to their own private island – costing more than $5000AUD a night, and once owned by Marlon Brando (yes, The Marlon Brando) for their honeymoon.

While Pippa looked slightly worse for wear coming off the plane — most likely still tired from partying into the wee hours of the morning following her lavish wedding — she donned a crisp Kate Spade jacket and was spotted chatting with other travellers as she made her way through customs.

Although it’s unclear which flight the lovebirds took to get to LAX, they did board an Air New Zealand flight in LA, bound for Tahiti.

No doubt Pippa will perk up once she and her new hubby arrive on their private honeymoon island fondly dubbed The Brando.

Travel website tahiti.com describes the island as “a retreat fit for royalty”.

“Once considered a playground for the wealthy, this atoll served as a summer residence for the former chiefs and kings of Tahiti.

“After many years of being inaccessible to the general public, a new eco-friendly, ultra-luxurious resort, The Brando, has changed that.”

The Godfather star purchased Tetiaroa for a mere £15,000 in 1966 with his French Polynesian wife, Tarita, after becoming enamoured with the atoll while filming Mutiny on the Bounty in 1962.

Following Brando’s death in 2004, it was turned into the opulent resort known today as The Brando.

Featuring 35 thatched villas, each with its own outdoor bath, infinity pool and a rocking chair for two, there is also seawater air-conditioning, solar electricity and generators running on coconut oil.

Talk about roughing it.

On Saturday night, the newlyweds pulled out all the stops to give their guests a night to remember.

Photos revealed how hundreds of guests watched footage of Pippa and her billionaire hedge fund manager husband beamed onto the back of her family’s £6million Berkshire mansion in an impressive display during the reception.

The newlyweds’ faces were projected onto the windows of Bucklebury Manor along with psychedelic lights and, at one point, what appeared to be the silhouette of a shapely dancing woman against a green background.

James was also shown in his hunting gear – an apparent nod to his lengthy campaign to win the affections of his bride – as guests partied until 4am.

The pair exchanged vows at St Mark’s Church in Englefield, while Pippa’s royal relatives looked on.

Other high profile guests included Princess Eugenie, Donna Air, the girlfriend of her brother James, Vogue contributor Serena Hood, and tennis ace Roger Federer and his wife.

The Duchess of Cambridge helped to make sure her sister’s big day went off without a hitch, shepherding the adorable page boys and flower girls — including Prince George and Princess Charlotte, and perfecting the bride’s train before she swept down the aisle.
