Bindi Irwin’s wedding dress is finally unveiled as Robert pens sweet tribute

Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at Australia Zoo last month, after the couple were forced to bring forward their nuptials due to the spread of coronavirus. And while the couple have previously shared a number of romantic snaps from their March 25 wedding, the 21-year-old bride’s gown was yet to been seen in its entirety.

Until now, that is, as her brother Robert shared a stunning photograph of him walking Bindi down the aisle on social media on Thursday, finally showing off the gorgeous lace bridal gown in all its glory.

The photograph shows Bindi beaming, presumably at her husband-to-be, as she links arms with her brother. Bindi’s chosen gown featured an intricate lace bodice with long sleeves, however the princess-style tulle skirt added a touch of glamour to the look, with layers of tulle falling softly to the floor.

“Walking my sister down the aisle was one of the most special moments of my life,” the 16-year-old wrote. “Bindi, you are the most amazing sister and friend, always there for me through it all and I just couldn’t be happier you found Chandler.”

He added: “And Chandler, I am so happy to now welcome you into our family as my brother. March 25 was a truly beautiful day!”

Bindi responded to her brother’s sweet post, writing: “Thank you for walking me down the aisle. I’m blessed to be your sister. Love you so much!”

Robert also shared a second image from his sister’s big day, which showed the newly-married couple posing alongside Robert and mum Terri Irwin, along with a brightly coloured Macaw and one of the zoo’s cute koala bears.

Terri looked sensational for her daughter’s special day, wearing a tight-fitting black sweater with a silk floral skirt. While Robert and groom Chandler opted for more low-key wedding looks, wearing open-collared pale blue shirts and chino trousers.

On Thursday, Bindi also shared a trailer for an upcoming episode of Animal Planet’s Crikey! It’s the Irwins, with her wedding set to air in the US on Saturday. She wrote: “Our Wedding Story. USA friends – Tune in to ‘Crikey! It’s The Irwins: Bindi’s Wedding’, airing on Animal Planet this Saturday. We’re sharing every beautiful, challenging and special moment with you during this episode. I already have happy tears. Comment below if we’ll see you there. Love & Light always xx”

The footage includes clips of Bindi as a child, with her late father Steve Irwin, as well as glimpses from her wedding day. It is not yet known when the episode will air in Australia.

Bindi and Chandler, who have documented their relationship milestones on social media, announced their marriage on Instagram last month by posting a photo alongside a lengthy caption which explained why the pair decided to bring their nuptials forward amid the ongoing coronavirus emergency.

“We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend,” Bindi wrote. “There are no words to describe the amount of love and light in my heart right now. We’ve planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn’t have guests at our wedding.

“This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us, however it’s lovely that we will be able to share photos and videos. Right now we’re encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward during this profound time in history.”
