Former first lady Michelle Obama made a bold statement in a bright yellow dress and long glittery boots this week as she stepped out in New York City.
The 54-year-old certainly stood out from the crowd when she joined Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker on stage at the Barclay Center to discuss her book Becoming.
Standing tall in the sparkly boots, the former lawyer was all smiles as she waved to the excited crowd who waited eagerly to hear about her life and journey to date.
Obama has travelled around much of the country recently promoting her book, which has received many rave reviews from those throughout the world.
In her memoir, the mother-of-two opens up about the experiences that have shaped her — from her childhood to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the White House.
Over the past month, the former First Lady has opened up about some of the emotional topics discussed in Becoming from her miscarriage 20 years ago to how she and husband Barack had to turn to IVF to conceive their two daughters.
In between promoting her book, the 54-year-old enjoyed a bit of a laugh with television presenter Jimmy Fallon.
Obama joined the host on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon to surprise people who were travelling in an elevator at the iconic 30 Rock in New York City.
The two waited patiently on one of the floors in the building for the elevator doors to open before jumping out, leaving fans in shock.

On one occasion the two could be seen sitting casually reading books and then slowly moving them downwards to reveal their faces. While another time Obama skips along while Jimmy holds the rope.
The unsuspecting people have a range of responses with some fans screaming and others in absolute shock, holding their hands up to their mouths.
The video was shared on Facebook receiving over 2.5 million views and thousands of comments.
“Michelle Obama is the best. She’s a good role model to all the boys and girls out here I love her,” one person wrote.
Another added: “She’s not only classy, intelligent & a great role model, she’s also a ton of fun”.
A third said: “Why can’t Jimmy Fallon and Michelle Obama surprise me in an elevator like this?!”
Obama isn’t the only one having some fun, with her husband Barack paying a surprise visit to the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington DC this week. The former US president surprised children at the hospital, bringing a sack full of presents to gift to patients.
“Merry Christmas and happy holidays to the extraordinary kids, families and staff at Children’s National. And thanks for humoring me as your stand in Santa,” he wrote on Twitter.
Thank you @BarackObama for making our patients’ day so much brighter. Your surprise warmed our hallways and put smiles on everyone’s faces! Our patients loved your company…and your gifts! https://t.co/bswxSrA4sQ ❤️ #HolidaysAtChildrens #ObamaAndKids pic.twitter.com/qii53UbSRS
