Melania Trump’s reign as the most well-liked person in the White House is grinding to a halt as new figures show her approval rating has plummeted over the past two months, according to a new CNN poll.
The first lady’s approval rating fell from 54 per cent in October to 34 per cent in December — a noticeable drop off for the former model who’s popularity with the public has varied throughout her husband’s time in office.
Despite the bad news, Melania stepped out on Thursday to spread her anti-bullying message on an annual Christmas visit to the Children’s National hospital in Washington. Melania didn’t disappoint in the style stakes dressed in an elegant pink striped coat which she matched with a white midi dress and pink shoes.
“#MerryChristmas to all the patients at @Childrenshealth! Thank you to all the nurses, doctors & medical staffers who work around the clock to take care of people this holiday season,” the first lady posted on Twitter.

Some have raised eyebrows in the past about Melania’s Be Best anti-bulling push given her husband has been accused of bullying women and his own staffers on several occasions.
However, Melania has made the campaign one of her top initiatives as first lady of the United States. Be Best focuses on values such as healthy living, encouragement, kindness, and respect. She previously said she wanted to encourage everyone to use social media in positive ways and wanted to help families and children impacted by opioid abuse.
On Thursday, she sat down for her second televised interview since Trump took office in 2017, and spoke about staying true to herself despite criticism from the public or media.
In the interview with Fox News, Melania said: “I do what I think is right. I know I will get the criticism – from the public or from the media – but I will do what is right and what I feel is right for the country and for the people.
“That’s why I say I want to stay true to myself and listen to myself and what to do and what is right, what is wrong and live a meaningful life every day.”
The first lady also said she sometimes disagrees with her husband’s tone and will give him her take on the news, along with advice.
“I follow what’s going on. And I give my husband advice and my honest opinion,” she said. “And sometimes he listens and sometimes he doesn’t.”
