Julie Bishop snapped hanging with celebs at Karl Stefanovic’s showbiz wedding

After sporting a stunning sequinned gown at Karl Stefanovic and Jasmine Yarbrough’s wedding in Mexico at the weekend, former Foreign Minister Julie Bishop enjoyed a casual lunch with a few famous friends on Sunday.

Julie was accompanied to the wedding by her long-term partner David Panton, and the pair joined Today host Richard Wilkins and his girlfriend Virginia Burmeister and son Christian for a laid-back lunch a day after the extravagant nuptials.

The group looked to be well into recovery mode after celebrating long into the night with the reported 200 guests in attendance at the lavish ceremony and reception at the ritzy One Only Palmilla Resort.

Karl and Jasmine said “I do” at the top of the stairs of the stunning resort chapel in San Jose del Cabo on Saturday afternoon with their closest family and friends watching on.

Julie swapped her usual business attire for an incredible glittering silver sequinned one-shoulder gown for the event, which she paired with a set of dangling silver earrings. A picture of her shared to social media by a fellow wedding guests, showed her standing barefoot in the sand, hitching the train of her dress up with one hand.

The member for Curtin wasn’t the only celebrity guest in attendance, with Karl’s brother Peter and sister-in-law Sylvia Jeffreys, Nova radio host Tim Blackwell and plenty of Jasmine’s fashion blogger friends there to support the couple.

Images from inside the bash revealed the evening reception took place on the sand, beneath a glittering white canopy that had been decorated with thousands of twinkling fairy lights.

One photo, posted by guest Amie Yin, gave an incredible up-close look at the venue as those closest to the couple sat at long tables adorned with white table clothes and decorated with flowers.

The event was certainly a loved-up affair with details of the speeches and Karl and Jasmine’s first dance, which according to Now To Love was set to the sound of Van Morrison’s classic love song ‘Tupelo Honey’, being made public.

According to Now to Love, Karl paid tribute to his 34-year-old bride in an emotional speech in which he described shoe designer Jasmine as his rock and reportedly said: “Everyone needs a Jasmine in their life.

“Jasmine you have taken on enormous stress with me, you have taken on another family, media and social criticism that would break most – you’ve weathered it. You stand tall, you stand strong, you stand up and keep walking.”

He added: ” You are my rock, you are my saviour, you put me back together.”

Guests were treated to a gourmet meal at the beautiful beach-front reception. The menu reportedly included a chicken tortilla soup and a green salad for entrees, and grilled beef tenderloin, mushroom enchilada, roasted pepper and avocado salsa for mains.

Jasmine looked every inch the blushing bride in a custom above-the-knee gown with a embellished long train by Australian designer Jessica Andreatta. The mini dress featured soft blush tulle, and patterned beading over the lace. She wore her blonde locks in a low elegant bun , which held her lace veil in place.

Meanwhile, Karl looked dapper in a white Tom Ford suit paired with R.M. Williams boots.
