Dame Judi Dench is internationally renowned as one of the world’s greatest actresses and she never fails to portray that timelessness on the red carpet, regularly opting for understated elegance over dazzling frocks and gowns.
And the 83-year-old’s latest outfit choice was one of her most sensational to date as she stepped out at the 14th annual Zurich Film Festival on Wednesday wearing a flowing sheer black jacket, which was covered in intricate gold embroidery.
Dench was suitably dressed for the occasion as the James Bond star was being honoured with the Golden Icon Award, as well as promoting her latest film Red Joan.
Wearing a flowing black dress and black court shoes beneath her striking choice of jacket, Judi let the eye-catching golden detailing do all of the talking as she accessorised the outfit with just a simple gold chain.
The Oscar-winning actress received the icon award in recognition of her impressive decade-spanning career, on both the stage and the silver screen.
“With an Academy Award and six further Academy Award nominations to her name, along with numerous other awards, Judi is a true icon,” Zurich Film Festival co-founders Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri said in a statement. “She has enjoyed an extraordinary acting career across film, television and on stage. We are thrilled to welcome her to Zurich and to screen her latest film, ‘Red Joan.’”
In her latest movie, Dench takes on the role of spy Joan Stanley who is enjoying a peaceful retirement when she’s arrested by MI5 and accused of providing intelligence to Communist Russia.
Earlier this week Dame Judi joined her 46-year-old lookalike daughter Finty at the Pack of Lies press night in London, as her only child prepares to take on the role of Barbara Jackson which her mum played in the original production decades earlier.
Prior to the show’s opening night Finty, whose real name is Tara, hit back at those who try to compare her to her mother, saying it “pisses her off hugely”, in an interview with The Times.
