Trump signs ‘new and improved’ travel ban

After US President Donald Trump’s first attempt at a travel ban sent most of the major US airports into chaos, he promises that his new revised ban will be better for all.

The first order also met a lot of protest from citizens and was finally taken down by the high courts. The new travel ban has been altered to be a “gentler” executive order. One of the main changes is that the ban is not to be in effect immediately but will instead be rolled out over the next few weeks.

The people targeted in the ban has also been adjusted as now the people coming to the US from Iraq will no longer be included in the ban after Iraq imposed a lot of their own vetting processes for people leaving Iraq.  The ban does still include people travelling from Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.  People travelling from these countries would still be banned for 90-days.  The only exclusion from this ban, which is another change from the other order, is that people from the listed countries that hold permanent US residencies or green cards will be allowed into the country whereas before they were not.

The ban on refugees is still set for 120-days with the changes being that before refugees from Syria were banned indefinitely.  This ban revision has made Syrian refugees included in the 120-day ban.
