Trump demands horse-drawn carriage for Queen visit

Donald Trump will visit Britain later in the year.

US President Donald Trump plans on arriving at the Queen’s residence in style when he visits Great Britain in October.

The Times is reporting Trump has demanded to use Queen Elizabeth’s gold-plated horse-drawn carriage to cart him along The Mall up to Buckingham Palace.

It’s a extravagant arrival a number of other world leaders have enjoyed over the years, although previous president Barack Obama gave it a miss and arrived by car instead.

The decision to use the ornate carriage is set to cause a major security operation at a hefty price as it is not well protected from possible armed attacks.

A source told The Times the ride would come at severe risk due to the contention that already surrounds Trump’s visit.

“It is designed to withstand a massive attack like a low-level rocket grenade,” the source said.

“If he’s in that vehicle he is incredibly well protected and on top of that it can travel at enormous speed.

“If he is in a golden coach being dragged up the Mall by a couple of horses, the risk factor is dramatically increased.

“There may well be protections in that coach such as bulletproof glass, but they are limited. In particularly it is very flimsy.”

Earlier in the year, more than 1.8 million Britons signed a petition demanding that the state visit be cancelled because it will “cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen.”

What do you think of Trump’s arrival plan? Over the top or not?
