Tom Hanks is releasing a quirky book

Tom Hanks is releasing a book.

If you love to read and you love Tom Hanks, then his latest announcement is bound to make you happy!

The 60-year-old actor is releasing a book later this year, but it’s not what you would expect.

Instead of a long tell-all autobiography, Hanks is releasing a book of short stories.

The book, Uncommon Type: Some Stories, consists of 17 short stories.

But what makes the book quirky, is that it was written by Hanks using a typewriter.

Apparently, Hanks is such a fan of typewriters that he owns more than 100!

According to the Independent, Hanks released a statement detailing how he wrote the book.

“In the two years of working on the stories, I made movies in New York, Berlin, Budapest, and Atlanta, and wrote in all of them,” he said.

“I wrote in hotels during press tours. I wrote on vacation. I wrote on plans, at home and in the office.

“When I could actually make a schedule, and keep to it, I wrote in the mornings from 9 to 1.”

So, what are the stories in Uncommon Type about?

Well, Hanks has been busy writing  about an eccentric billionaire, an immigrant fleeing civil war arriving in New York City and “the junket life of an actor”.

Looks like Hanks has discovered the joys of writing later in life, like a lot of the audience here at Starts at 60.

What do you think? Are you looking forward to reading Tom Hanks’ book?
