The most popular baby names of 2017 revealed

New mums and dads are embracing the names of yesteryear.

They say what goes around comes around and it seems that’s certainly true when it comes to baby names.

New data has revealed the most commonly searched baby names of 2017 and it appears modern-day mums and dads are looking to the past for inspiration.

Gone are the days of blending two names together to make one, such as Vanessa and Jessica to make Janessa, or choosing something so unique the child will be forever trying explain the meaning behind it.

According to website Namely, the most popular baby name searches of 2017 include, Cora, Hazel, Esme, Nora, Sadie, Willa, Saskia and Evangeline for girls, and Atticus, Jack, Ezra, Theodore and Magnus for boys.

Charlotte came in at number three, while George sat at 37, suggesting the young royals are still influencing the new generation.

The fastest rising names of 2017 for the girls are: Evelyn, Amara, Ada, Ophelia, Isabel and Naomi.

Meanwhile, these boys names are shooting up the list: Kai, Cassius, George, Jude and Finn.

It’s not all old-school though with a number of more modern names staking their claim.

Aryan, Soren, Gideon, Lucian, Beckett and Griffin all made the top 100, along with Mae, Khaleesi, Astrid and Stella.
