Sir David Attenborough reveals struggle with ageing

The legendary nature presenter has admitted that he is struggling with lapses in memory as he approaches his 91st birthday. 

Speaking to The Telegraph, Sir David Attenborough said that he struggles to remember the names of plants, and the memory lapses have held up production of his latest series, BBC ocean series Blue Planet II. 

“There were these searing yellow fields and I can’t think of the damn name”, he said of a trip to the Jura Mountains in Switzerland.

“I wanted to say something about it but I couldn’t and it wasn’t until we got quite close to Geneva that I thought, of course, oil seed rape.”

Sir Attenborough also revealed in the interview that he is “not a big fan of electronic communication”. 

Despite his advancing age, he remains dedicated to conserving the planet.

“Everyone must do what they can because it’s the most valuable thing we have got, whether your 60 years old or 106”, he said. 

He added that it is important for corporations like the BBC to continue to make programs that challenge people’s perception, saying that “the moment you say that you’re only going to do the things that people like then you’re in trouble”.

Sir David Attenborough will appear twice in the upcoming Blue Planet II series.
