Outspoken Muslim presenter slammed for being un-Australian

After her controversial Anzac Day tweet, the backlash against the controversial ABC presenter has been swift and harsh, with criticism and calls for her sacking coming from across Australia, including Immigration Minister Peter Dutton who said that she was a “disgrace”.

In possibly the harshest comments against Yassmin Abdel-Magied’s tweet on Tuesday in which she followed the tradition “Lest we forget” with, in brackets, “Manus.Nauru.Syria.Palestine”, reality television star Lisa Oldfield, wife of ex-One Nation politician David Oldfield, has slammed the 26-year-old.

“It wasn’t ignorant, she was just being a b****”, she said.

Oldfield made the comments during the Paul Murray program on Sky News on Wednesday. It was her next remark that shocked the most, however. 

“At the end of the day, I don’t like what she said, I was offended by what she said, but I still support her right to freedom of speech, and my right to be able to turn around and say Lest We Forget Yassmin, that you are brown, you are Muslim and you are a girl and it’s the only reason you have a job at the ABC”, she added.

The Real Housewives of Sydney star laughed with Murray after making the disparaging remark. 

Despite petitions calling for Abdel-Magied to be sacked, the ABC are standing by her.
