Cher labels her own music ‘crap’

Not a fan of her own music.

Most star performers have an air of arrogance, or at the very least, confidence in their own work. And why not? After all, when they’re catapulted to stardom, it’s generally because there are a lot of people who like their work.

In a breath of fresh air, however, singer, actress, and Goddess of Pop Cher has admitted that she isn’t a big fan of her own music. Specifically, the tracks she released in the 90s which were, arguably, some of her biggest hits.

“I’m not a Cher fan,” she said in an honest interview with Billboard magazine.

“I just don’t think my aesthetic taste lies in that direction.”

Surprisingly, her biggest hit, Believe, is the one that she hates the most, along with her 1995 album It’s a Man’s World, which she said she doesn’t even remember the tracks of. The highest praise she has for one of her own songs was to say that If I Could Turn Back Time was “okay.”

The star, 71, also admitted that she struggles with ageing, even as she still performs her greatest hits in her residency in Las Vegas.

“I don’t like getting old. I’m shocked that I can still run across the stage at my age. I thought I’d be dead,” she said.

Cher is set to receive a Billboard Icon Award next month, recognising her remarkable career of hits that began in 1965 with I Got You Babe.

Considering she has one of the most unique and recognisable voices in pop music, she is very hard on herself.

Are you a Cher fan, or would you agree with her own assessment?
