If you’re a fan of movies and theatre then you might remember the play and movie Evita.

As you would recall, Broadway legend Patti LuPone played Eva Peron in the original stage version and Madonna played her in the 1996 film version.

But what many don’t know is what LuPone thought of Madonna’s performance – until now.

During an appearance on the US TV Show Watch What Happens Live, a viewer called through and asked LuPone about Madonna – and that’s when the 68-year-old let loose.

She described Madonna as “dead behind the eyes”.

“She’s a wonderful performer for what she does, but she’s not an actress,” LuPone said.

“She cannot act her way out of a paper bag. She should not be in film or on stage.”

But that’s not all she had to say.

Noting that she only saw one song from the movie adaptation of Evita, LuPone had some harsh criticism.

“I thought it was a piece of s***,” she said.

It turns out that despite playing the same infamous character, LuPone and Madonna have only crossed paths once – when Madonna appeared in a Broadway production.

“I did meet her after her opening night party,” LuPone said.

“And the only thing that Madonna has ever said to me was, ‘I’m taller than you’.”

There’s been no official response from Madonna as yet.

What do you think? Do you agree with LuPone had to say about Madonna?
