Bindi Irwin shares her favourite memory of Steve

Steve Irwin has been remembered fondly by his daughter Bindi in a recent interview.

When you lose a parent, you hold your memories of them close to you.

And as someone who lost her father at a young age, Bindi Irwin holds her special memories very close to her.

In a recent interview with Us Weekly, Bindi shared her favourite memory of her dad Steve – and yes, it involved a crocodile.

She recounted how as an eight-year-old, her family was on a research trip catching crocodiles in far north Queensland.

“This one day on our very last croc trip with Dad he decided I was old enough to be able to jump on the head of the crocodile. I was this little 8-year-old girl and Dad goes, ‘I believe in you. You can do this, sweetheart.’” she said.

“I just remember how excited I was that Dad believed in me to jump on the crocodile’s head.”

What’s sad about this memory for Bindi is it happened just before her dad Steve died in 2006, in fact it was one the family’s last trips together.

“It was actually our last family photo together, this photo of me holding onto the crocodile’s head and my mom and dad and brother all on the crocodile as well,” she told Us Weekly.

“He believed in me, and all I wanted to do was make him proud. This was a really special moment and a really special photo.”

What a special memory for Bindi.
