‘Check before you sit!’ Terrifying moment huge snake spotted lurking in toilet

A Queensland snake catcher has sent a strong warning to Aussies to check their toilets to avoid any nasty surprises, after a woman was left horrified when she spotted one of the slippery creatures in a restroom.

While most Australians are likely used to seeing the odd snake in their drive or on a walk, most families will no doubt feel safe from the reptiles in the comfort of their own bathroom.

However, a professional snake catcher has now warned we should all be double checking under the lids before taking a seat, after they had to carefully manoeuvre a snake from the clutches of a toilet over the weekend

Taking to Facebook on Sunday, the Cairns Snake Removals employee shared a collection of close-up photos of the creature, that had twisted itself from the inside of the bowl to the outside of the toilet.

“Always check before you sit down,” he warned. “Every year in the dry season we get snakes in toilets. Along with laundries and bathrooms. I removed this water python out of a ladies toilet tonight.”

The post has since received a whole lot of attention from Aussies warning their friends to keep an eye out for the unwelcome guests.

“Yeah that looks a bit too close for me. Up close and personal. I can do without that,” one person commented. While another added: “Where’s that running-away-screaming emoji??”

Meanwhile, we may have just entered spring in Australia but experts have warned that snake breeding season has officially begun.

Snake catcher Luke Huntley told Noosa News in Queensland recently that the next three months are usually the busiest for snakes, with catchers in the Noosa area alone receiving up to 10 calls a day relating to snakes.

Worringly, it appears snakes are setting up shop in homes during their breeding season.

“Seventy per cent of the calls I get are when snakes are inside the house,” he told the publication.

He also said that snakes can become more aggressive at this time of the year. “It also marks the beginning of breeding season and snakes go absolutely crazy,” he explained.
