Michael Bublé has been through a lot over the last few years as he was forced to retreat from the public eye after his eldest son Noah, now four, was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer in 2016.

Now the Canadian singer, 43, has opened up about his son’s cancer diagnosis with James Corden for a Carpool Karaoke special during Stand Up To Cancer UK on Friday night — an annual fundraising campaign that raises money for cancer research in the UK.

“It is so hard to have to acknowledge it. Obviously we got his diagnosis and that was it, my whole life ended,” Michael said. “At first it was just, it is too hard to talk about. They said it wasn’t great so we took it day by day. We had the best doctors.”

Speaking frankly to James about the heartbreaking situation Michael added that “despite not being OK” he had to “somehow pull his family together and be positive”.

“I wasn’t OK. When this all started I became the strength to somehow pull us and lift us. When they got it out and chemo was done, I just fell. My wife picks me up.”

The pair also went on to sing passionate renditions of ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’ as well as ‘It’s A Beautiful Day’.

The 43-year-old musician became the latest star to take part in The Late Late Show’s popular Carpool Karaoke segment, following in the footsteps of stars such as Paul McCartney and Elton John.

The singer and his wife Luisana Lopilato were left devastated when Noah was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer in 2016. Michael immediately stepped away from the limelight in the years that followed to support his son through every stage of his treatment and subsequent recovery.

The couple, who met in 2009 while filming Michael’s video for single ‘Haven’t Met You Yet’, confirmed the youngster was making a good recovery at the end of last year, with Michael describing the period as an “emotional rollercoaster”.

He’s now preparing to return to the stage, and previously said he wouldn’t be considering it if Noah wasn’t fully recovered – but admitted they’ll always be monitoring it.
