Glenne Headly, star of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, has died aged 63

Actress Glenne Headly, is perhaps best known for starring alongside Michael Caine and Steve Martin in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels in 1988, as the cunning “victim” Janet.

She went on to appear in Dick Tracey next, followed by roles in Mr Holland’s Opus, Getting Even with Dad and Don Jon, with many more to follow throughout her career.

Headly also appeared in many TV shows including Gray’s Anatomy, ER and Parks and Recreation.

Her start to acting was on stage with Susan Sarandon in Extremities.

The versatile actress was nominated for an Emmy for Lonesome Dove.

Headly was filming a new TV show called Future Man when she died late Thursday night.

Her publicist confirmed the news of her death. “It is with deep sorrow that we confirm the passing of Glenne Headly,” reports People magazine. “We ask that her family’s privacy be respected in this difficult time.”

Married to John Malkovich from 1982-1990, she then married Byron McCulloch in 1993. They have a son, Stirling.

Headly was one of the few members of Mensa in Hollywood.

A cause of death has not yet been reported.

Already stars have come forward on social media posting tributes for the star. Steve Martin called her a comic genius while many others said how they will miss her.
